Meet Anna, your coach
At the age of 25 Anna rediscovered trampolining and went on to win a selection of trophies at regional level including 1st place and Gold Awards. Anna learned double back somersault from an arm swing technique within a year. In 2011 she embarked on her first trampoline coaching course. Anna has been taught and mentored by several Olympic coaches, a former Olympian and trained alongside as well as coached by Indo-Pacific Champion, Kylie Walker. Most notably Anna was mentored by John Beer for the majority of her Level 3 coaching. Anna currently trains at Harlow, home to one of only two trampoline stunt testing venues in the country. Anna applies techniques such as mindfulness to over come and develop high performance skills.
For when you have a few minutes:
Anna’s first achievement in trampolining was many years ago when she was 15 and came in the form of an A grade as part of the high schools Sporting Challenge.
Following leaving school her career had an influence over her chosen sport due to stress and computer related headaches which lead her taking up middle distance running and then on to yoga. Anna’s 10k personal best was in 2004 with a time of 44:45.
At the age of 25 she rediscovered trampolining and went on to win a selection of trophies at regional level including 1st place and Gold Awards. Anna learned double back somersault from an arm swing technique (no longer taught in trampolining) within a year and then re-taught herself with the aid of several willing friends and gymnastics coaches to Arm set into the take-off for this skill due to new and more powerful trampolines such as the 4×4 euro tramp where Anna is most comfortable and able to gain full height and flight.
Anna was also coached significantly by Delroy Austin who is renowned within the London Region for coaching and solving twisting issues.
Today she is still able to perform double somersaults and is currently working through the level 3 coaching which includes teaching these. Anna currently trains at Harlow, home to one of only two trampoline stunt testing venues in the country. Anna’s main coach at Harlow is Bill Durden, she has also been coached here by Gary, Mike, Martin and Robin. Anna is now in her 39th year and currently working on re-learning double arabian, double pikes and a new routine starting Half-out tucked.
As a coach Anna specialises in producing trampoline training courses as well as working with stunt artists and national/ex-national competitors in a mentoring capacity. Anna applies techniques such as mindfulness to over come and develop high performance skills and help resolve issues such as skill confusion. Anna does not believe in lost move syndrome for the simple fact the skill has not gone anywhere. She is a firm advocate for PMA and teaches that with good foundations and a good mindset anything is possible. Her top students and training buddies currently include Matthew Douglas, Sina Ali, Christian Cole and has started to encourage Darren Russell to return to training.
